Quick Overview

Everyone who works with food has a special responsibility for safeguarding the health of consumers and ensuring that the food they serve or sell is perfectly safe to eat.

The course will provide successful candidates with a CIEH Level 2 qualification and will include :-
Food Poisoning and its prevention
Personal Hygiene
Food Storage
Cleaning
Pest Control
Food Safety Legislation

It will be tailored towards the issues of particular relevance to running a cake business from home giving participants the confidence and expertise to safely deliver quality products to their customers. The nature of the course will provide plenty of opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues before sitting the multiple choice exam at the end of the day.

The course will be taught by guest tutor Vanessa Brett

Vanessa is a qualified Environmental Health Officer and has over 20 years experience working in both the Public and Private sectors. She worked in Local Government for 18 years fulfilling enforcement, advisory and educative roles in Food Safety, Health and Safety and other disciplines within Environmental Health – the complete ‘Life of Grime’!
Along with her family Vanessa loves cooking and, in particular, baking. A passion for cake decorating has been rekindled recently when Vanessa and her daughter completed the PME Sugar Flowers Diploma at Confection Perfection and she is delighted to be involved in this new project.
