You may choose Simnel cake, vanilla or chocolate cake which we will bake in advance for you. This is a real gem of course, you will learn an incredible array of skills which may be transferred to other cake projects. The cake is based on a dome cake and a round - it will give around 12 portions (depending on size!). The cake will keep until Easter Sunday - if you choose Simnel cake it will keep for 4 weeks.
You will learn
- How to stack and assemble your cakes. If you are working with Simnel cake you will use marzipan to level; if you are using vanilla or chocolate you will layer them with jam and buttercream.
- How to prepare your cakes to achieve the perfect shape - If you are working with Simnel cake you will coat the cake in a layer of marzipan; if you are using vanilla or chocolate you will coat the cake in ganache.

Annabelle established Confection Perfection (now re-branded as Annabelle Jane Cake School) in 1996 from her kitchen table; bought her first retail premises in 2000 and is now settled in a delightful setting in Bearsted, just outside Maidstone. Annabelle has extensive cake decorating experience and is highly creative and artistic. Annabelle is an accredited tutor for the PME Diplomas in Sugar craft and also designs and delivers a wide range of other highly successful cake baking and decorating classes. Annabelle has a huge vision for our Cake School and ensures that the strong reputation we have earned continues to grow lead by her consistently high standards.
Everything is Included including the cakes, marzipan or ganache, all icings, materials and a tall box to take your cake home in.
All the equipment is provided for you and you also receive a set of course notes.
We provide tea, coffee, drinking water and cake. You may like to bring a packed lunch (or there is a local deli a short walk away)
You may like to bring an apron (please don't buy one - we have spares!)
